There’s something uniquely special about a wedding that blends old-world charm with the salty air of the South Carolina coast. As a Charleston wedding photographer, I had the joy of capturing a stunning and heartfelt celebration at the Post House Inn, nestled in the heart of Mount Pleasant’s historic Old Village. This intimate wedding of 75 guests was the perfect mix of New England charm and Lowcountry elegance.

A Love Story Rooted in Two Cities

The bride and groom, originally from Massachusetts, have recently made Charleston their home. Wanting to share their new life and favorite city with the people they love most, they hosted their wedding in the place that now holds their hearts—Charleston, South Carolina. Their venue choice, the Post House Inn, couldn’t have been more fitting.

With its Michelin-starred seasonal fare, vintage coastal tavern vibes, and cozy seven-room inn, the Post House offered the ideal setting for an elevated yet laid-back affair. Guests from near and far gathered to celebrate in this charming pocket of the Lowcountry, surrounded by breezy palms, cobblestone walks, and the comforting scent of the sea.

Coastal Details & Thoughtful Touches

The couple’s style was effortlessly elegant, classic with modern touches. Soft ivory florals, fresh greenery, and timeless décor made the inn’s historic backdrop shine. The ceremony was held in the courtyard, shaded by swaying oak trees and glowing with natural light—an absolute dream for any Charleston wedding photographer.

Cocktail hour featured classic Southern sips as guests were greeted with trays of colorful Aperol Spritzes upon entering, paired with curated bites from the Post House’s renowned kitchen. The reception was a warm, candle-lit gathering filled with food, laughter, and heartfelt speeches.

Why Post House Inn is a Hidden Gem

For couples dreaming of a destination wedding in Charleston with a cozy, upscale vibe, the Post House Inn is truly a hidden gem. Located just over the bridge from downtown Charleston, it offers that sought-after blend of intimacy, luxury, and authentic coastal charm. From a photography perspective, every corner of the inn tells a story—from the artfully plated dinners to the worn-wood interiors and soft afternoon light.

Capturing the Magic of Charleston Weddings

As a Charleston wedding photographer, it’s always an honor to document celebrations like these—where the couple’s personalities, family connections, and intentional choices come together to create an unforgettable day. This Post House Inn wedding was a beautiful testament to the couple’s new beginning and the timeless charm of Charleston itself.

If you’re planning an intimate wedding in Charleston and looking for a photographer who knows how to capture every authentic, joy-filled moment, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s create something beautiful together.
